Why eq4me Exists
Over two decades of working in training and development, one pattern became clear:
Most challenges people face are not technical.
They are emotional.
Pressure. Miscommunication. Conflict. Self-doubt.
Unspoken tension. Reactive decisions. Disconnected teams.
When emotional intelligence is missing, performance suffers.
When it is developed, everything changes.
eq4me was created to bring structure to this space — to move emotional intelligence from concept into practical, measurable development that people can apply in real life.
Richard Cullinan
Founder of eq4me
Richard Cullinan is an emotional intelligence author, master facilitator, and coach with over 20 years of experience in leadership development and personal growth.
His work is grounded in a simple belief: emotional intelligence is not a soft skill - it is a core human capability that shapes how we think, respond, communicate, and lead.
But his journey into emotional intelligence was not only professional.
It was deeply personal.
Through his own life experience, Richard came to understand how profoundly our emotional patterns influence the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and navigate the world. This insight led him into a sustained exploration of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and human behaviour — not just as theory, but as lived experience.
Over time, this became the foundation of his work.
Combining years of corporate facilitation, coaching, and programme design with deep psychological insight, Richard developed a practical approach to emotional intelligence that people could actually use - in conversations, in leadership, and in everyday life.
That work became eq4me.
The eq4me Model of Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence is not a single skill - it is a set of five interconnected domains that shape how you experience your emotions, respond in the moment, and relate to the people around you.
Together, they provide a clear and practical way to develop emotional intelligence in everyday life and work - and form the foundation of every eq4me course and programme.
